THIS SINGLE RACK SPACE PREAMP WAS ORIGINALLY ASSEMBLED BY VALLEY SOUND BUT WAS RECENTLY REBUILT AND IMPROVED BY COLEMAN ROGERS. THIS UNIT HAS TWO NEVE 3415/A LINE AMPS FROM A 5316 BROADCAST CONSOLE FROM THE LATE SEVENTIES. THE LINES FEATURE THE 438 DISCREET OP AMP INSIDE, WHICH MANY NEVE NERDS PREFER THE FLAVOR OF OVER THE CHIP BASED 638 UNITS. IT IS SMARTLY RACKED IN ONE
VERY NEAT SINGLE SPACE PACKAGE WITH A BRAND NEW LINEAR POWER SUPPLY (OVER POWERED) AND PHANTOM POWER SUPPLY ALL IN A CUSTOM GRAY BOX. THE POWER SUPPLY CONNECTS TO THE RACK UNIT REMOTELY VIA A 4 PIN XLR CABLE. THE POWER BOX FEATURES AN EXTRA 4 PIN XLR RECEPTACLE FOR POWERING + PHANTOMING ANOTHER 24 VOLT NEVE UNIT. PERFECT IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER UNIT WITHOUT POWER OR PHANTOM.
JUST MAKE A CABLE AND YOU'RE ALL SET. THE PRE'S FEATURE D餤ENTE'D MIC GAIN KNOBS FOR EACH CHANNEL AND A FADER KNOB FOR CONTINUOUS OUTPUT ADJUSTMENTS, PHANTOM POWER BUTTONS AND POLARITY REVERSE TOGGLE SWITCHES. I USE A NUMBER OF THESE ON ALMOST EVERY SESSION. IT SOUNDS GREAT AND IT'S READY TO MAKE
